Christmas Camp-out Fun!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year…and the busiest! I’m a little late with my post but a couple of weekends ago was the Heart of Texas Camping Unit’s Christmas camp-out at Coffee Creek RV Resort in Santo, Texas. What fun! We made some new friends and were excited to see some familiar faces from the Halloween Campout. Once again the members of HOTCU made us feel welcome and like we had been members forever. Such a great group of people. There were some beautiful trailers, several we hadn’t seen before. The 1948 Liner was incredible. An amazing restoration. Thanks for showing it to us Pat and Linda. Krystal and Sammie…your trailer is awesome! Lynn…love, love love your little Caravel!

IMG_0185IMG_0173The 80 degree weather tried to dampen the Christmas spirit but when these two showed up for the evenings festivities….Christmas was ON!

The White Elephant Gift Exchange was vicious and hilarious! If you aren’t familiar with it, you choose a gift, the next person can take your gift or pick another one. Each item can be stolen up to 3 times and the last person with it , keeps it.  These people are pretty cut-throat when it comes to Airstream goodies! Anyone who opened an Airstream item had it stolen the maximum number of times. There was some really great and creative items! Ann, the president of our unit, creates some amazing  Airstreams out of aluminum and then decorates them. I had my hands on one briefly before it was snatched away and was able to take this quick picture with my phone. And I mean QUICK! I ‘m glad I took a picture so I could remember what it looked like! Like I said, these people are ruthless when it comes to Airstream goodies! After stealing it back twice, I finally ended up with this fun disco ball! I LOVE IT!

IMG_0099Another fun contest was a “secret ingredient” cooking contest. Each year, the winner from the previous year chooses the secret ingredient that has to be used in your dish. This year was the year of Ginger! The winner, chosen by secret ballot :), wins the most honorable title of “The Aluminum Chef” and gets to proudly display the plaque in their trailer for a year and chooses the secret ingredient for the next year.  Candy Fisher won the honor this year! Yay Candy! No word yet on next years ingredient but one thing for sure, we are going to have to step up our game to win this one! Their are some serious chefs in the club!

It was another great time with the Heart Of Texas Camping Unit. We can’t wait for the next one! Happy Holidays!
